Health Horizons

A new productIn the factoryOctober 16, 2026

Where you stand against your goal, from your own Apple Health numbers.

The spec

What the factory will build, as it stands. Say what it should change in the comments.

Assembled by the director on 2026-10-18 from ~/product-health-horizons README.md and RESUME.md; a draft for Wayne's revision on the product details page. The factory builds to the current version.

Problem. Calorie loggers count; none of them judge. People who already log meals in Lose It, MyFitnessPal, Cronometer or MacroFactor still cannot see, at a glance, whether they are on track today, this week, this month, this year — and they will not switch loggers to find out.

Who. A person on iPhone who already logs food in another app and weighs in regularly, and wants one honest verdict on their energy balance over every horizon.

Must.

  • Read intake, active and basal energy, steps, exercise and weight from Apple Health; never ask the user to log a meal (M-056). Name the app each number came from.
  • Estimate resting metabolism (Mifflin-St Jeor), turn it into a daily expenditure from Health's measured energy, set a budget from the goal (lose · maintain · gain), and calibrate the estimate weekly against the weight trend.
  • One gauge at every scale: three arcs (intake · burn · balance) for the day, drawn over the window's totals for the week, month, year and forever; rolling or calendar periods, remembered.
  • Weigh-ins: every reading over the smoothed trend, the writing app named; Remove takes a reading out of the trend (deleted from Health only when this app wrote it; a scale's reading stays and is marked).
  • The only write to Health is the weigh-in typed here. No health data to iCloud; the cached ledger stays on the device.
  • iPhone first; iPad, Apple Watch and Mac apps and the widgets from the same codebase (SwiftUI, XcodeGen, a Core package; make build-all is the gate).

Signal. TestFlight installs and a week of daily opens by people who keep their current logger.

Output. A native Apple app on the App Store (listing pack under docs/app-store/), the support and privacy pages on freebeer.ai, the product page with real screenshots.

Investment case

  • Buyer. A logger's user who wants the judgment on top of the counting.
  • Price. Monthly or yearly subscription, or lifetime — tiers on the product page; Wayne sets the price.
  • Path to market. The newsletter and the product page announce it; the App Store listing carries it.
  • Still open. The App Store Connect API key (Wayne), a real app name in the sample screenshots, three more screenshot sets.
