So - you’ve heard me blabber on for a couple days about what we’re GOING to do. Now let’s DO some of it. In today’s episode we’re looking at a front-end builder called Rork (rork.com).
Rork is an app-building front-end that allows us to put in a simple prompt and get a relatively sophisticated app that can easily be pushed to Android and iOS stores, as well as viewed in the emulator on their site.
While Rork’s free tier didn’t seem to show up on their pricing page (it was there 6 hours ago - really), their FAQ says it IS still a thing:
So what does it look like to create an app in Rork? Much simpler than you’d expect. Take a look:
I noticed a few things after recording this - the volume stinks. I’ll ask you to turn it up for this episode and chalk that up to building in public. I’m here to document, but I’ll also work on the production aspects in future videos. Also, the Free tier no longer showing on the pricing page was a surprise. I created a separate account using a new email address to verify that it would create my account in the free tier and give me the same limits shown in the video (5 messages per day, with a limit of 35 per month). Keep in mind that today’s app only used a single message, so you can do quite a lot within those limits.
That’s it for today - tomorrow, we’ll try to build on this momentum and do even more. Thanks for reading.
